Towards the end of Space Sheriff Gavan, we were introduced to Den Iga, a forest ranger who was injured by Makuu. He was sent to Planet Bird for medical treatment and returned in the finale to assist Gavan in the final battle under the guise of Space Sheriff Sharivan. Gavan was promoted to captain, leaving Den in his place to protect the planet. This was an interesting concept and the first time the next series hero was introduced before his own premier. It gave Sharivan a sense of continuity, even more so than the Kamen Rider shows before it. However, does Sharivan suffer the same fate as every other sequel? Or does it rise to the challenge?
