As previously discussed, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles initially began life as a fun, gritty joke by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. The first issue was an instant success, as was its subsequent issues. A toy line was pitched, which led into a five-episode animated series in 1987 to help sell the toys. To everyone’s surprise, the show was a hit! It would lead to the creation of a second comic book, a live action movie in 1990, various video games, an anime OVA series in the late 90's, and additional movies over the course of the next 40+ years. Today, the line is still going strong with multiple companies releasing a multitude of merchandise from toys to games and so on. The first season to Ninja Turtles was not all that bad.
