Kamen Rider Kuuga was the first full length television series Kamen Rider endured in over a decade. It was such a success that Toei immediately decided to continue the franchise with a follow-up series called Kamen Rider Agito. Furthermore, Toei hired Jetman’s head writer Toshiki Inoue to helm Agito. Inoue continued the trend Kuuga started by writing Agito as if it were a cop drama that featured Kamen Riders in it rather than being a traditional Tokusatsu series audiences were familiar with.
