As Juspion came to an end, Shozo Uehara began working on the next series. Titles thrown around included Metal Men and Great Space Warrior Starlon, only to eventually become known as Dimensional Warrior Spielban, with the title paying tribute to director Steven Spielberg. Additionally, this series marked Uehara’s 20th anniversary in the entertainment industry, and in being such, Uehara felt he wanted to incorporate that 20 years’ worth of knowledge into it, providing audiences with the best show imaginable. Keita Amemiya was also hired on to be the main character designer, who had worked on some of the monsters in Juspion. As such, Spielban was set up to be a masterpiece in the making. Is Spielban a masterpiece? Or is it as worthless as contaminated water? Watch to find out.
